The Digital Cinema Open System Alliance is an industry group committed to promoting interoperability between digital cinema equipment from different vendors, giving exhibitors greater flexibility as they plan and deploy their digital cinema installations, and establishing architectures that can easily adapt to new innovations in the years ahead.
As cinema equipment manufacturers, we understand the benefits of building products which work together seamlessly to create high-performance systems. We understand our customers needs, and know that they want flexibility, scalability and choice. We are currently in the process of developing interface specifications for the connection between servers and integrated media blocks (IMBs). This crucial link is not yet standardized, and we believe the compromises in use today do not provide the level of flexibility that is ultimately needed in this market. Once complete, we intend to support these interfaces in our own products. We will also share our work openly with the entire digital cinema community, in order to promote rapid and broad industry acceptance.
